Whistler

Whistler was heavenly. It easily ranks at the top of our list of places to vacation at again in the future.

Tucked away in the woods for the week, we were eager to set out and explore this beautiful town, and during the summer in Whistler, on bikes is how you do it. Right from our camp we were able to hop on the main bike trail leading to the village, an assortment of swimming lakes, and many mountain bike trails with jumps and boardwalks to fly down.

Layne was killing this lineup of jumps on her Barbie bike.

Here's Blake catching some air.

With mountain bike trails around every corner my boys were happy happy happy. Meanwhile, I was content with riding to the village for my morning coffee and fresh juice, and strolling through the many shops. The village was great, especially after having been renovated just a few years ago for the 2010 Winter Olympics.

There was a playground for the kids, Justin pushed them so high on this swing.

And an adventure zone with all kinds of rides and games.

Wanderlust, a yoga festival, was in town while were there. Everywhere you went people were wearing yoga pants and carrying mats. It reminded me of being back in Carlsbad where I wore my workout clothes all day long, even if I didn't work out that day.

We got to see all different types of yoga done on the amphitheater lawn...here's some laughing yoga. Just watching them laugh made us laugh. It looked like fun.

They also had these tightropes set up and the kids had to have a try.

We rode bikes everyday, took hikes and ate out often...loved everything about our time here. Adding to the fun, Justin's family joined us for the second half of the week.

At dinner with Justin's mom, dad, grandma and brother.

One afternoon Justin got to spend some time with his brother, Jeremiah, taking Blake and Reagan for an ATV tour up the mountain where they had fun getting dirty and took in some amazing views of the valley.

And I was blessed with the opportunity to get some time to relax at the Scandinave Spa adjoining our campground for some beautiful views of my own.

Complete silence was the rule, so no talking whatsoever.

As beautiful as Canada was, after a total of five weeks there on two separate visits, it felt great to get back to the States. Especially driving on the good old 5 freeway, even if it is 1,200 miles from our usual section.

We're loving Seattle so far, so more to come soon.
