Just ask a local. That's what we did to find the Old Spanish Sugar Mill.
Located at the Ponce DeLeon Springs in Florida we parked our coach under a beautiful live oak filled with Spanish moss and headed in to enjoy a unique dinning experience.
At the Old Spanish Sugar Mill you get to cook your own pancakes right at your table.
They were the best pancakes we have ever tasted.
Since the restaurant was located at Ponce DeLeon springs we enjoyed playing in the water after we ate.
The kids had fun swimming in the natural spring water.
We also rented a canoe so Justin and the kids got to explore the other side of the springs.
I love finding unique places to try, it pays off to ask around.
We left the springs in the afternoon and headed to St. Augustine, where we would spend our last night in Florida.
St. Augustine is the oldest city in the nation. There was lots of history to uncover and we only had the evening to do it.
We headed straight to Castillo de San Marcos, the fort was already closed for the day but we had a chance to walk around the outside and snap a few photos.
After the fort we took a stroll through old town St. Augustine...I wish we had more time to spend, the town was so quaint. Lots of character around every corner.
So many cute restaurants to eat at.
The oldest wood school house in the United States.
We finished up our tour of St. Augustine with dinner at the Floridian. I can't rave enough about this place. Everything is homemade fresh from local farmers, making the food taste amazing. The decor is eclectic with a touch of vintage. I haven't had a meal that good since I left San Diego.
We finished off our meal with dessert...words cannot describe the wonderful taste.
Today we drove north and left Florida. I was a little sad, I will miss the warm sandy beaches and sunshine, but on to the next part of our adventure. Lot's of history awaits.
